I’m not pro-choice, I’m pro-minding-my-own-business
When I read that, I was close to crying. In Bible language, my heart failed within me. Apparently some Americans aren’t pro-anything; they are pro-minding-my-own-business.
What do I find wrong with that? Not everyone can stand on street corners enforcing their beliefs! I’m a hypocrite to think that, to believe that, and to hope that they will. Because it’s just easier to be silent. It’s easier to sit at home on Saturday mornings. It’s easier not to be a target with your blog. It’s easier just to have a cute, friendly, lifestyle blog.
One of my favorite quotes is by one of my heroes, Dietrich Bonhoeffer. For those who have never heard of Bonhoeffer, he was one of the few preachers and Christians during WWII who stood up in Germany. He said what was happening wasn’t right, and he suffered for it. He was hung for the accusation of trying to kill Hitler. His quote runs thus.
“Silence in the face of evil is evil itself. God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak, not to act is to act.”–Dietrich Bonhoeffer
Wow, that’s powerful. If we don’t stand up and cry aloud in the streets like Wisdom, (Proverbs 8) we will not be held guiltless. If we do not act, we are acting. We are saying we agree with this atrocity that is happening daily in our land. If we do not stand up and speak, we are agreeing with them!
But, why do we as Christians care? Why should we stand up? Doesn’t the Bible say not to judge? It’s their business.
In John 14, Jesus says, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” Jesus isn’t just the Way, or the Truth, but He’s also the Life. And that means He stands for life. He cares about each one of those babies. He created them, whether it was in ideal situations, or if they were conceived in sin. He still cares for them.
If we’re Christians, we should want to be like Jesus. In fact, we should be pro-Jesus! And if Jesus is pro-life, we should be pro-life too! But not only was Jesus pro-life, He was anti-minding-your-own-business. In fact, often He told people “to sin no more.” He didn’t say, “You’re healed; go party. I’m just minding my own business, so I shouldn’t tell you what to do.” No, He said not to sin.
If we are to follow our Savior, we don’t mind our own business. We stand for what is right. Jesus isn’t just the Life, He’s the Way. Not a Way, but the Way. Jesus is the only way to heaven. It’s either Heaven or hell, y’all; and that’s the only way. If we don’t repent from our sins, believe on Jesus, and follow Him, we’re going to hell. No but, no good works, no other ways. It’s through Jesus, or not at all.
Sure, we don’t like hearing that. I don’t like hearing that at times. But Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. As the Truth, we know He isn’t lying about being the only way. He’s dead serious, y’all. He’s earnest, and it’s time we take Him that way. It’s time we repent, and fall on our knees. We need to pray and ask God to forgive us for our personal sins, and the sins of our nation. Our nation is murdering innocent babies everyday, and if we don’t pray and stand, it will continue.
Join me in prayer. Join me in not only being pro-life, but pro-Jesus, and pro-Bible.

So true! Great post Amel!
I love that quote! It’s actually on the side bar of my blog. Not many people know about Dietrich Bonhoeffer. I really like the audio drama about him, especially the great German accents the voice actors have!

Great post, Amie! I agree with you 100%. Christianity is pro-life … but it’s not just passively pro-life or pro-anything-else! We need to stand up for what it right no matter the cost or the inconvenience!

THANK YOU AMIE for taking a pro-life, pro-Jesus stance!! That is true. Proverbs 3:27 says, “Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act.” This goes along with what you were saying about simply remaining silent when the Truth is being challenged. Amen!!! Keep being a voice for Truth!!!

This was so true, so, so true. We MUST be pro-Jesus and pro-life! Just like you the “pro minding my own business” made me just…that is so terrible. We must stand up for the voiceless!
