Prize for Writing Contest

Hullo!  Anyone out there?  Today I’m announcing my prize for whoever wins my writing contest.  It took me forever to think of something that everyone would like…and I kept coming back again and again to this one idea.  But!  I didn’t want to do it, because the person would have to wait.  So, I wrestled over it for a long time, but then I felt the Lord saying go ahead and announce it as the prize.  So, without further ado, I will announce it. (After you scroll through those dots. 😉 )

What do you think?  You’ll (If you’re the winner) get a signed copy of my very first book–Once it’s published.  Haha, sorry, you’ll have to wait.  I’m working on it, and it’s coming, but just stop and admire the cover.  It looks so professional.  It should, since I’ve been working on it for the last two weeks!  Haha.

Also, you’ll get your favorite sweetmeat (right away) and a thing of coffee, hot cocoa, or tea, whichever you prefer.

Now you want to join?  All right!  Here’s the rules for the contest!

Here are the rules for the stories!

  1. No witch craft, black magic, or inappropriate relationships are allowed. (Need a definition of inappropriate?  Look in Ephesians 5.)
  2. No curse words, or taking of God’s name in vain.  (The Lord will not hold you guiltless if you take His Name in vain.)
  3. And lastly, they must be respectful to each other, and God.

All right!  So, you’ve gotten the idea for the story rules?  Well, now you’re going to have to use a prompt.  (Am I making it too hard?).  You have to use a little bit of the following prompt in your story.

We’ve all been wronged in this life; we’ve all been hurt.  But whether it’s physical, mental, or emotional pain, we don’t have to dwell on it.  God sent His Son so that we can conquer pain.  Live a life that models that.

“Of such an one will I glory: yet of myself I will not glory, but in mine infirmities.  For though I would desire to glory, I shall not be a fool; for I will say the truth: but now I forbear, lest any man should think of me above that which he seeth me to be, or that he heareth of me.” (2 Corinthians 12:5-6)

In order for your submission to be qualified you must:

  1. Use part of the prompt above.
  2. Include your name, age, and bio in a separate document as the story.
  3. Send the story in a Word document, Romans New Time font, size 12.

That’s all!  But wait, how do you send it to me?  Well, go up there to the contact form.  Contact me that you would like to join the contest.  I’ll email you back and voila!  It works that way.

You must send in your story by April 30.

Sorry, if it’s later than that, it doesn’t count.  I will release the winners on May fifth.  If you are a winner, you’ll find an email in all caps saying so. 😉

So, on your marks, get set and join the competition!

I’m so excited to see your entries, and I hope you all have a fun time writing.  Comment down below to enter, and I’ll see y’all (or type???) later!

How’s the weather where you live?  Do you enjoy reading?  What is your favorite hot drink?

I am working on my story! I have been editing it like crazy lately! 😀 I hope to send it to you over the weekend or Monday. I love your idea for your prize! When do you hope to publish your book? I’m so excited for you! You are a talented writer!!! 😊 I am not a coffee fan, and I can’t drink hot chocolate because I am allergic to dairy, so tea is my favorite! I LOVE drinking tea! What about you?

Wow Amie! I didn’t know you were looking to get published–that’s awesome! 😄 You really should look into the Young Writer’s Workshop website run by Brett Harris; it’s all about getting published when you’re young. Amanda is in it and it sounds like something you would love!

I’ve heard about YWW, but it costs money, and my parents and I don’t have money to spend on that. We’ve talked it over, and we’ve agreed I don’t NEED YWW.

Nice cover!! I’m glad you finally finished it. I am almost done with my story. It’s a good thing there is no word count limit because my story is kind of long!
My favorite hot drink is probably tea, but salted caramel hot chocolate is delicious! The weather is very nice and springy here!

I hope you can enter! You actually MUST enter, I’m demanding it. Haha! I understand. I’m usually like, “I’ll enter if the prize is good enough. Hmm? Good prize. I’ll enter.” 😆
I love coffee too! But like you, I try to keep it to one cup, though sometimes you need it before bed too.

How many winners will there be?
I don’t know if I’ll enter… probably not, but if I get some random inspiration I might. 😉 It wouldn’t be hard for me to follow the formatting rules though, haha! I already always use word and use Times New Roman size 12.
How long did it take you to write “Operation Green Serpent”? You have an intriguing title and cover! My favorite hot drink? I dunno… Probably coffee? Not sure. What’s the weather like? Unpredictable. Like always in Oregon. :/ Fairly nice of recent though! Do I like to read? If it’s a good book, yes. If it’s not, don’t ask…
What would be considered ‘nice weather’ where you live? Once it hits 69 here, we start to say it’s nice weather.

Sadly, only one. My budget doesn’t cover two…Well, only one will get the prize, but I might be merciful and let the second place winner’s story be posted on my blog…If a they want it on there. I hope you get an inspiration!
I wrote O:GS in November, finishing it on the 30th.
Nice weather in GA is 70 to 80. Once it hits 90, it’s hot. But 70s is so nice! You can walk around barefoot. *sighs*

This sounds soooo awesome, Amie! 😀 Hmm…I think it would be fun to enter, I’d just have to get some “quick” inspiration!

And your prize sounds so cool!! A book! That’s exciting! I haven’t studied this much, but how does self publishing work?

I hope you do enter, Amanda! Self-publishing is a terrible nightmare you should never enter. Okay, not really, but it’s headachy, and it takes a lot of time, and a lot of buggy other people 😉

Yeah, I’ve been thinking about self publishing. But even when I’ve been thinking through what “I have to do”, it seems like a lot!

Have you put out an excerpt to your book yet? Or like a sneak peak?

I agree that self-publishing can be hard the first time! Right now I am working on publishing my second book (self-publishing.) It’s been a LOT easier this time!! 😊 If either of you have any questions, feel free to ask me through my blog (contact page.)
