Can I ask you a question? Would you wear your underclothes to Walmart? If not, then why do (some of) you wear them to the pool and beach? God convicted my mom of this point a few years ago. What do you do, though? You can’t find anything if you stick to the neck to knee modesty rule at normal stores.
Well, I’m here to tell you what we did. I asked Mrs. Julie at Meant to be Modest if I could do a review of her wonderful swim clothes, and she said yes!

I’ve tried three of the styles she offers. I wanted to try Style #2 this year, but my mom said to stick with what I know I like. The picture above is of the separates. I would not advise young girls to get them, because my skirt would always slide down when I swam.
I had Style #1 twice, but since it’s has a seam, the seam would bother me. I convinced my mom to let me get the separate, and perhaps I didn’t like it much better.

Style #3 is my absolute favorite. It has lining and elastic in the inside, so when you jump in the pool the dress doesn’t fly up. It’s comfy, and you feel comfortable because you know you aren’t flashing anything.
The neckline isn’t too high, so it’s not choking you, but it’s not too low. The sleeves are great too, though you end up with farmer’s tan pretty bad. 😂 You will need something underneath though, like a swim bra or something, because it isn’t made with anything like that.
They’re very flexible and fun. They aren’t at all constraining, and as I already said, you don’t have to worry about showing something that isn’t supposed to be shown.
This year, Mrs. Julie mixed up some of my measurements, so my dress didn’t fit at all. We emailed Mrs. Julie, and asked her what she would do.
She emailed and said to send her the new measurements. In three days after we gave her the measurements, we had the new swimsuit. We sent the faulty one back to Mrs. Julie. Meant to be Modest has amazing customer service, and their products are just as amazing.
If you’re looking for a new swimsuit, I would highly recommend Meant to be Modest. Check out their patterns and tell me what’s your favorite one. I’m in love with the one I got, which is called Drop in the Ocean. We’ve gotten Very Berry (Adorable for little girls!), Groovy Flowers (That one bled a bit 😬), Summer Citrus (Beautiful!), Cotton Candy (It gets so worn), Blue Lagoon (It is BLUE), Radiant Red (Cute), and Pink on the Dot (It’s pictured above).
Check out Meant to be Modest, and comment below your favorite pattern!

Thanks for sharing this, Amie! I feel the same way about swimwear. Why wear on the beach what you wouldn’t dare wear anywhere else? (Ah, natural poetry…)
I love the color of yours!
I’ll have to check Meant to be Modest out! I have a swimsuit that I ordered off of amazon, but it was rather cheap, so I don’t think it’ll last too much longer.

So cute!! It’s SO HARD to find modest outfits, especially if you have a tighter budget!!! 😕😖 I usually try and find loose-fitting shorts that are knee-length, but you have to make sure those don’t stick to you when they’re wet!! 😬 The past two years I’ve been able to find a skirt with shorts attached that reaches my knees, and usually I look for athletic tops, for a t-shirt that is modest to swim in!! Thanks for this link, I might check it out!

Yeah, I think these are sorta expensive, but a normal bathing suit is at least $20. 😳

This is the stuff my sisters wear. A LOT better than what others wear.

I know right, modest clothes is sooo hard to find! We haven’t gone swimming in years, so we don’t really have too worry about swim-suits, but trying to find long skirts is really hard. So I make my own! (: Of the patterns, I think that like “Cloudy Day” and “Blue Lagoon” the best. Good post and great reminder! (:

Haha! The only place I can find skirts to be long enough for me is Cato, and they aren’t cheap. *sighs* I should make some skirts myself.

Lol yeah… Sewing your own is fun though! Do you like to sew?

I do, though I haven’t done it recently. I’ve made myself quite a few dresses, mostly costumes, though.

You omitted the fact that they are actually made out of swimsuit material. We have been interrogated by the pool police concerning that subject.

These look great! 😊 I have struggles with finding modest bathing suits in the past for sure! Right now, I have been using longer swim shorts, shirts and a long rash guard on top. Sometimes I get hot, though in all of the layers! 😛 These look comfortable! I will check them out! Thanks for the review and new idea!! You should do another modesty post—I liked this! 😊

Maybe I will…I have some ideas for some more modesty posts…Especially for girls who are tall and like dresses. 😉

Cool! We’ve bought modest swimsuits from “Dressing for His glory.” They were quality made, yet pretty expensive. I didn’t see any pricing on Mrs. Julia’s Meant to be Modest website. How much did your suit cost? (if you can say.)
Our family is always looking for more “modest” swimming alternatives.
Thanks, Amie!

Nice! I used to wear just a Rashguard t-shirt and sport shorts, but now I wear a 1 piece underneath, just in case the shirt would fly up or something. (it does so the 1 piece underneath is a good thing) 😉 Great ideas! 😀

So cool! We got nice workout skirts from Costco to swim in. They’re super nice, and sometimes I just wear them around the house on hot days! 😀
We used to make our swimsuits, but there seven girls so…….That got a little hard….. 🙂

Thank you for your nice review, Amie! I love your fun pictures 🙂 Just a note: if the separates skirt slipped down I could easily take up the elastic a bit to make it more snug so it wouldn’t do that 😉
Hope your family has a wonderful summer! Julie

This was wonderful! We’ve always wore lots of modest clothing when doing any sort of water sport! It’s a ton better than wearing like nothing!

Don’t get me started on swimsuits! It’s SO hard to find a modest one! It seems like everyone my age and older owns a bikini. Last year the closest thing I could find to a modest swimsuit is a bikini with a cover top. It’s kinda hard to describe but it covers up a lot. Also your swimsuit looks great! 🙂

My favorite prints are Perfect Storm, Blue Lagoon, and Drop in the Ocean.
Seriously, I wonder so many times why some people think modesty isn’t important when you’re in the pool! It most certainly is!!! My swim suit right now is exactly like yours (in how it’s made) and it’s a purple flowered color… and not only are the swimsuits modest, but you can get really cute colors too! How fun is that!!!??? (:

It is very hard to find a modest swimsuit nowadays. I just wear a tankini from Kohl’s, I think with a shirt and a pair of shorts 😛
Thanks for sharing!

Which Bible do you use? What church do you go to (if you’re comfortable saying)? We’re Independent Baptist King James Only. 🙂

Ahh, I see. 🙂 We have a quite specific reason for being KJV only, which would probably take up an entire book to explain… (Psst! https://victorybaptistpress.com/product/the-inspiration-and-preservation-of-scripture/) XD
