My Favorite Kinds of Things

fullsizeoutput_444.jpeg

Did you guess what today’s post is about?  If you guess my favorite things, you’re right!  Here are the rules.

Rules…

Thank and link back to the persons blog who tagged you!

Ahem, sorry.  I forgot my manners.  Anna, thank you so much for tagging me!  It was very kind of you.  ❤

♥ Thank and link back to the persons blog who started the tag! (Beth in Boots)
♥ Write about seven of your favorite things in your post!  (add at least one picture of everything!)
♥ Tag seven  people at least! ( If you don’t know seven blogs to tag just tag as many as you can)
♥ Put the seven rules in your blog post!
♥ Include the picture above for the beginning of your post!
♥ Have fun!!!

My favorite things are…

All right!  So, here we go!  (In the order I thought of them.  Please realize they might not be  in the order of my favorite, but it’s just some of them.)

fullsizeoutput_433.jpeg

Instruments/music/singing

My instruments!  (Sorry, I was not about to drag my piano outside.) For those of you who don’t know instruments, there is a guitar, a violin, and a banjo pictured above.  Comment below if you play any of them! This also includes all music.  I got distracted while I was taking this photo shoot, and just sat there and played violin for a few minutes.

fullsizeoutput_43c.jpeg

Western apparel and horses.

I couldn’t add a horse, since my horse photos are a little outdated, but this was as close as I got.  Anyone love anything horse related?  Picture above are my Sunday boots (That’s why they’re clean), my cowgirl hat, and my boho tie.  I wish I could have pictured more, but I kinda felt it would loose it’s photogenic qualities, if you know what I mean.  Maybe you don’t.  Either way, those are some of my favorite things!

fullsizeoutput_43d.jpeg

Books and reading.

Books!  Who doesn’t like books?  I just realized that one of the books are upside down.  Oops.  I guess that photo was a photography fail. 😬  But these books (with the exception of “Caleb in the Country”) are by one of my favorite authors, A.L.O.E.  I just recently read “Exiles in Babylon”.  I’m a collector of stories, whether they are in the published form or not, and that’s part of the reason I’m a writer.

fullsizeoutput_43e.jpeg

Sending and receiving letters/pen-pals.

Letter writing!  Maybe I’m just old-fashioned, but I like myself a good, old, handwritten letter.  I send out a letter a day, mostly.  I’d say about twenty letters a month on average.  That’s roughly 240 letters a year, which is $120 in stamps.  And if on average, I write three pages for each letter, that would be 720 hand-written pages per year.  Yep, my signature might be pretty, but I write it over 240 times a year, plus I also practice it.  Did anyone say I’m obsessive?  You said the truth.  🙂

fullsizeoutput_43f.jpeg

Art.

I’ve really gotten into art the last month or so.  I’ve been enjoying some pastel pencils someone gave me, and I’m super excited about trying oil!  I’ve always been into charcoal, and my favorite thing to do is portraits.  Now, I’m not saying I’m good at it…Just that I like it. There is a difference, you know. 😉

fullsizeoutput_440.jpeg

Writing…

Writing.  I enjoy writing more than I can say.  I think everyone that follows this blog can tell that.  Oh, and what do you think of the picture?  I think it’s very dramatic, isn’t it?  I think I like it better than all the other photos.  (Or maybe it’s just because that hand lettering took some effort.)

fullsizeoutput_441.jpeg

Hot drinks.

Coffee.  One of my absolute favorite things is coffee.  It’s just so good, and tasty, and the bitterness is addicting.  But, I don’t like it unless it’s black.  Give me it strong and black.  (Oh, someone from the army told me that they have instant coffee, and some guys wouldn’t bother making themselves a cup of Joe.  Instead, they’d just pour the packet of instant coffee down their throat.  Talk about gross!  That’s almost as bad as drinking a raw egg.)

That, my friends, are seven of my favorite things.  Can you relate to them?

Nominees…

I am nominating… (Let me think…)

Mandalynn!

Madi!

Malachi!

(Man,why do their names all start with M?)(Anna!  You stole all the good nominators!)

Liberty!

Clara!

Maggie!

Rosy!

And there you have it folks.  You need to stalk those fella’s blogs for the next few weeks and see if the post their favorite things.  I know I’ll be stalking them.  (Oh, wait, don’t stalk Madi.  She only does tags once a year.  🙂

What are some of your favorite things?  What is your favorite art medium?  Do you enjoy horses?

~~Amie~~

P.S. HAPPY NATIONAL COW DAY!  *throws confetti* Don’t you all just love our cow friends?  I’m going to celebrate by eating beef!

I’m with you there on the instruments, letter-writing, art and reading parts! (which is pretty much the whole post! 😉 ) They’re all great things to have/learn/do!! Yes, I enjoy horses but I’m not around them much so it’s nice to see them if we go to fairs or something like that. 🙂

WHOOP WHOOP! Yes, music is GREAT! I love music. I was classically trained in violin for 12 years, piano for 5, and voice for 2, so I’m pretty musical. I just love music in general. I don’t play much anymore, but I listen to music all. the. time. Oh, and my brother plays guitar. 🙂

I’m not THAT crazy about western apparel, but I do have a lovely pair of cowgirl boots! I’m very fond of them. 🙂 Yours are so nice! Mine are a bit dusty and worn.

I think you know where I stand on books. XD XD

Yes, letters are great! And girl, my word that’s a TON of letters! I only write letters with Allison, and like to make it an art (I make my own envelopes and matching stationery with little “bonus” items thrown in)…I can’t imagine writing that many! I haven’t even got that many friends!

Encouraged by Allison, I’ve gotten into art recently too! I mainly do watercolor. (You should post some of your art sometime!)

Ooh, very nice picture. 🙂 I used to write more, but sadly I don’t anymore. I wrote a few things that I’m proud of, but now…I don’t know what happened to the inspiration, sadly.

I love coffee and tea! (And sweet tea, but that doesn’t count since it’s cold, I guess.) Also I’ve drunk a raw egg. WITH milk, maple syrup, and nutmeg, of course, but still…it was a raw egg. XD

AND YES, COWS! Who’s cow is that in the picture? She looks just like our Jersey! I celebrated…by milking Florabelle. XD

Ooh, I need you to teach me violin, then! LOL, I’ve mostly taught myself by a dent of hard work, watching youtube, and reading books. It’s not the same as a real teacher, but there are no real teachers in my area. 😳

Haha, my every day boots are so dusty! They have red clay, dirt, and animal stuff all caked on the sides. And that’s why I didn’t take a picture of them. (Though I did read once that the only REAL boots are the dirty ones…)

Haha, yeah! I always say my mailbox is my ministry. I enjoy writing, and it’s great schooling, isn’t it? I do love doing envelope art, and that’s why I only write one letter a day.

Oh, no. I shouldn’t. My art isn’t that good. I have trouble painting/drawing what I see, but some people are helping me identify colors, and shapes. Hehe, I mostly just see things as blobs.

Oh, well, egg nog doesn’t really count, though I can’t stand egg nog. My dad and brother love it, but I’m just like, no.

Oh, that’s my BFF’s Jersey cow. They have a dairy in the area, and she named the calf after me. It’s so cute! (Well, it was last summer, but now it’s grown and moved to a different farm until it can be milked.) All Jerseys look alike (almost…)

Ha ha, you know for a while I actually considered teaching? But I tried teaching my cousin and didn’t really enjoy it. I don’t really have a passion for the instrument anymore, and you can’t be a good teacher without a passion. But that’s definitely one way to learn, and if you ever have questions, feel free to ask me!

Ha yeah, my farm/work boots have so much dirt and manure on them (and milk from missing the bucket XD).

It is! Ooh, yeah. But that’s why I only do one or two per month. 😉

Mmm, I can relate to that! Practice really helps, though!

Ha ha, well you know I actually prefer RAW eggnog to the cooked kind…it’s just lighter and less rich. AND HEALTHY. *nods*

Oh that’s great! AWWW, that’s so SWEET! Yeah, that’s true. Florabelle is a big lighter around the face.

(Do I get the longest commenter award again? XD XD)

Oh yes! You do get the longest commenter award, but I was afraid you were tired of hearing that. (Are You?)

Well, I probably wouldn’t enjoy teaching my cousin either. I don’t think I’d enjoy teaching anything, because you might have a passion for it, but the person your teaching is only doing it because they thought it would be easier than such and such, or something like that. You need to rekindle your passion! (Well, not need, but you know what I mean.). Would you consider the 12 years you spent on it wasted?

So do you only have one cow?

Whoop whop! Ha ha, well…I wasn’t TIRED, but I was getting used to it. XD

Yeah, true. Unless that person DOES have a passion and want to learn. Mmm, good question. I don’t think so, because it taught me so much about music and about discipline. And I may use it later on, you never know.

Actually we have two; Florabelle and her calf Babybel. ☺

This was great!! I loved ALL your points, music is great (though I’m not super musical… it’s not a natural talent) I play Guitar and a tiny (TINY) bit of piano.. He he. My sister stole all the natural musical ability… and one of my other sisters… and my little brother… and one of my older brothers… he he.

WESTERN STUFF!!! Amen! My love for horses has never changed, but I never did get that horse I always wanted, and my parents never did buy me any boots… so I don’t actually have much proof of my love for horses except my word and one picture I have hanging on my wall in my bedroom. 😜

Books… I do enjoy a good book, I’m not book crazy but I do enjoy a good novel or something 😊 Used to HATE it, but I do enjoy it now, much to my mom’s relief 😉

Letters are epic… I do have an email I can use, but I mean, I’m just as slow at using that as I am at writing an actual letter, sooooo….. Plus, letters are SOOO much more fun to receive than an email… don’t get me wrong, I do like getting emails, but letters or emails? Definitely letters. 😊

I love to paint, though I’m not good at it… ha. Though I did just paint a super cute ladybug earlier today… Ha! I don’t do this terribly often, maybe that’s why I’m not good, but whatever the reason, I like it anyway.

YESS!!! Writing is awesome, though since I’m not on the computer much during the summer, I’m afraid I don’t get too much done… though I still love doing it, absolutely!!!!! 😃 How can you not? Well, I guess some people don’t, but… well, they’re not me. 😜

Ahh… Coffee. 😁 If it’s hot, I like it black, but if it’s iced, I like it sweet with cream… I’m weird. Eww, that’s awful!! That disgraces coffee itself!! How desperate for a strong cup of coffee can you get?! To just eat the grounds???????? Yeleck!!!!! 😝😝

Yay for instruments!!!!! I love all of those instruments too! I play a little of guitar, piano, and violin. No banjo. Speaking of the piano though, I would have loved to see you drag it out there. No, just kidding… Don’t do it. XD
I LOVE horses and cowboy boots and hats!!!!! Although the only ones of those I posses is the boots. I really want a horse but I don’t think we’ll end up getting one. 😦 I DO intend to posses a cowgirl hat sometime though. And hopefully my own gun. 😉
Ooh, books! And Lamplighter, too! I don’t think I’ve read any of those ones in your picture, except I just started Escape from the Eagle’s Nest. But other than that we don’t even have any of those. 😦 I love A.L.O.E. too! She also wrote The Jewel. If you haven’t already, READ IT. It’s super good!!!!
I love letters too, life has just been so crazy recently… 😦 Hopefully I can get back to regular writing soon.
Hehe, I’m with you on the ‘like it, not good at it’ when it comes to art. I’m sure you’re great at it though!
Hm… I didn’t know you liked writing… Lol! And I love the picture! The handwriting for “The End” and the lighting and positioning of the notepad on the computer… It’s perfect. 😉
Yes, coffee!!!!! But I don’t like it black. Not yet at least lol. I add less and less sugar every time. I just like a little in it. But I also like my coffee as strong as I can get it! Bleh, a package of instant coffee??? Gross!!!
Aah! You ate beef on National cow day??? The cows did not approve, I assure you. 😉

Oh, wow! Grace is back with her long comments, LOL. Oh, I’ve read “The Jewel”, but that wasn’t my favorite of hers. It was kinda…Interesting. The cows didn’t have to approve they just looked on without moving my heart. I enjoy my ground beef and raw cabbage just fine without it being approved.

Lol yep, I’m back! Ooh, really? I really liked The Jewel. 😉 Well everyone has their preferences I guess. 😉
Hehe, I’ll be sure not to let our cows know that you were eating beef on their day. They would be shocked and disgusted to be sure!
Speaking of national days, did you know that the 11th was national Slurpee day? Me and my siblings went out to the 7-11 convenience store and we all got one. Haha! It was fun. 😉

This post was very fun, I loved reading it!
I wonder if I ate beef the day this was posted…. hm. I don’t remember. XD Maybe I had hamburgers… yum.
I love writing letters! I only have a few pen-pals though… would you like to be pen-pals with me? (if you wouldn’t, ignore this comment. XD)
Also, I am going to be emailing you tomorrow about something… so, yeah. 😛 (it’s important! 😉 )
