Ramblings #3

And welcome to another random ramblings, where I just randomly spout out facts about my life, and some silly quips made by my siblings.  How are you today?  Well?  Well, that’s simply splendid.  I am quite well, and as I am sure you guessed.

The other night, my sister was marveling at how I can sleep with a comforter at 80 or so degrees.

Me: I need my hot coffee and my comforter to keep me comforted.  I need comfort.

Later, Rose and I ran to the window to look out, and I dragged my comforter after me.

Rose: Amie, you look like a two-year-old, or Linus from the Peanuts.

Me: I need my comfort.

Me: *finished a biography about a man* *bawling like crazy in my bedroom* Why am I crying about a guy that’s been dead seventy years?  It’s just so sad.  *thinks about all the G.I.s that died in WWII* My day is ruined.

Whenever I enter my room, and I see stuffed animals on my bookshelf, I know my little sisters have been there.

My mom and I went to a mall a few days ago, and wow-wee!  Was it fancy!  We saw lots of jewelry shops that were terribly sparkly, and then there was this one store called “Untuck it.”  And it was all shirts designed to be untucked!  Oh, the horror!

As we were leaving, I suddenly had this brilliant thought.  Of course, like usual brilliant thoughts, it came too late.  Wouldn’t it have been splendid if I had videoed our reaction?  But, I suppose there might be a next time.  (I’ll hope not.  Bring me to the Army Navy store, please!)

You know you’re nerdy when this is what you use Pinterest for. 😂  How often do you have dysphoria?  Do you know someone who mimps?  Do you ever dwale?

Dad: I tried to do sit-ups, but they just didn’t work out.

Me: *looks at dad a long time* *as dad walks away, I burst into laughter* Mom, did you get it?  Sit-ups not working out?”

Mom: *who had been sitting at the table the whole time* Yeah.

Apparently my mom and I don’t have the same sense of humor.

IMG_1926

My siblings: Adam and Eve only had three sons.

Me: No, they didn’t.  They had at least two daughters.

Siblings: But the Bible doesn’t say that!

Me: Guys, if they didn’t have any daughters, we wouldn’t be here.

*silence*

Siblings: OH!  Yeah. *sheepish laughter*

Now, time for a tag!  Anna and Pearl were SOOOO sweet to tag me for this, and before I go on to the tag, I command you to check out their blog, and follow it.  😂  I love their blog, and their super fun and sweet.  So, what are y’all waiting for?

Rules:

  • Link back to the person who created the tag: Savannah
  • Thank the person that tagged you: Anna and Pearl.
  • Share the tag graphic below: ta-da!
  • Tag 11 other bloggers: at the end of this post 🙂

Names: Amie (pronounced like Amy, not like the French amie.)

Nickname: Uhhhhh….

Birthday: One day in the year, on which the sun usually shines. 😉

Hair Color and Length: My hair looks brown…To me, at least.  Friends and family say it’s auburn.  It goes to my shirt sleeves, and it has rather a kinky wave to it.  🙂

Eye Color: BROWN.  Some folks say they have some green in them, but I dunno…*looks around doubtfully*

Braces/Piercings/Tattoos: I am currently flaunting the braces style.  (LOL, totally not a style, but you know…) I did have my ears pierced, but I don’t wear earrings any more.

Righty or Lefty: I was born right handed, but with A LOT of work, and determination, I have become a bit ambidextrous.

Ethnicity: *looks what this means on Google* Oh, um, I’m a follower of the One True King. 🙂

First…

Novel Written: Haha, so not proud of it, and it’s never been finished, but it was titled “flowers.”

Novel Completed: Again, not proud of it, but it was a start, right?  Crystal Clear was the first novel I completed, and believe me, I was proud.  Oh, wait, maybe it wasn’t?  Maybe An Unseen Blessing was the first completed.  I don’t remember.

Award for Writing: The first one…Um, I think it was a contest on a blog.  Yeah, it was Snow Nightmare.

Publication: I’m not sure.  I’ve had both fiction and non-fiction published in magazines, and on blogs, so I don’t remember.

Conference: Well, this isn’t a writing conference, but my first conference was the very first Teach Them Diligently.

Query/Pitch: *sigh* *heaves another sigh* *scrunches face* That reminds me what I need to work on.  *grabs a cup of coffee* *looks guilty* Maybe, just maybe I shouldn’t be writing this post, and just maybe I should be writing a query.

IMG_9483

Favorites…

Novel (That You Wrote): How am I supposed to decide that?  Can a mother chose her favorite child? Or a little girl her favorite doll? But I am rather proud of Operation: Green Serpent. And I just might be proud if I wrote a sequel to it. 😉

Genre: Mystery/ Action and Adventure.  Plus, and book that’s old, like, from the nineteenth century.

Authors: Catherine Marshall, C.S. Lewis, C.R. Hedgcock, E.D.E.N. Southworth, A.L.O.E, Susan Warner, R.M. Ballentine…*pauses to grin* Maddison Tucker, and Parker Hankins.

Writing Music: Okay, so at first I never liked to listen to music as I wrote, but my tastes have changed.  Here are a few of my favorites.

And of course, any bluegrass or Christian country finds its way into my songs.

Time to Write: The later, and the lonelier, the better.  😉

Writing Snack/Drink: Coffee, or tea, and I’m a bit of a fan of greek yogurt.  And if it’s jam and bread, or sour cream, I’m bound to take it.  Usually I don’t eat while I write, though.  A plumcot is always welcome, along with an apple.

Movie: Not much of a big movie person.  Um, GettysburgThe Gods and the Generals, or the first two Narnia movies.

Writing Memory: Hmm, I don’t know.  Actually, I do.  When I sent The Reluctant Reader to someone, and they said they wanted to read more of my writing.  I was super close to hyperventilating with excitement.  😂

Childhood Books: The Usborne Farmyard Tales, The Oak Inside the Acorn by Max Lucado, The Moody books by Sarah Maxwell, The little house on the prairie series, and the Boxcar mysteries.

Currently Reading: “Under the Lilacs” by Lousia May Alcott. (SO good.  *swoons*)

Writing: Um, actually nothing.  Besides this post, and a short story.  I’m kinda so glad not to be writing anything. 😂

Listening to: “Angels Swing A Little Lower” and pretty much all the Southern Raised songs on Youtube.  (Hey, it’s free, you know?)

IMG_9248

Future…

Want to be published?

TOTALLY.  (Is that even a question?  *smiles as I get to the part about don’t ever give up in “Angels Swing A Little Lower”*

Indie or Traditional?

Traditional.  Makes more sense, and I don’t have the money or time for indie.

Wildest goal?

HAHA.  I don’t know.  Seems to me none of my goals are extremely wild.

IMG_9027

Younger sister: I wanna watch Nickel the frog.

Me: What?

Younger sister: You know, Nickel the frog.  We used to watch it, and the song went like this, “Nickel the frog.  Nickel the frog.”

Me: We never watched anything like that.

Younger sister: Of course we did.

*fifteen minutes later, in which we argued about Nickel the frog*

Younger sister: Maybe we didn’t…

Me: Told you so.

IMG_9055

Brother: *playing that his paper doll is a food instructor* *sings* A food inspector as a lot on their plate. *Stops singing* Get it?  A lot on their plate?  A food inspector?

Mom: *looks at what I’m doing while I’m supposed to be writing an essay* Do you need to turn the computer on airplane mode?

Me: *guiltily gets off WordPress* Nooooo…

Super excited when a copy of your books comes in…And your siblings keep laughing over and over at the story.  I’m a proud artist and writer.  (Best combination, right? 😂)

(Pardon the pictures from over the last year.  All the new pictures won’t come off my camera, and I’m just about ready to pitch that bothersome device.)

Do you enjoy ramblings?  What makes you laugh?  Do you like country and bluegrass music?

~~Amie~~

Ha ha, this was great, Amie! Also my dad has ordered shirts from Untuckit! He has quite a few. They look great, if you ask me. And BAHAHA your comforter. XD Junior’s the same way, just with wearing long-sleeved shirts all summer long…Operation: Green Serpent was great. Snowball and the Missing Apple! Ahh, it’s so cute! Great post, Amie! (I’ve decided not to comment on everything…it would just take too long. XD)

Hehe, this was such a fun post! I’ve never heart of Untuckit shirts before, but I looked them up, and they’re…interesting…not my favorite but not too terrible (in my opinion)
That’s funny, because I also like to sleep with a comforter no matter how hot it is outside. XD

Go, comforters! I (would) use one all the time (if I had one.)
I love rambling posts! I think they’re my favorites of all the posts you do, Amie. Your siblings are ALMOST as funny as mine.
I don’t really like country music that much (don’t hurt me in your righteous wrath!), except the kind of music they play at barn dances…whatever that’s called. You know, the kind with no words and lots of fiddle. 😀
Thanks for brightening up my day!

We’ll have to duel out the funniest siblings question later, I suppose. I will tell you that today Mike (age 3) came up to me and said “If you REALLY want to know my secret, I can tell it to you.”
Me: No Mike, don’t tell secrets.
Mike: Weeelll, if you REALLY want to, you can hear my SECOND secret.
Me: No! I don’t want to hear your secrets!
Mike: Well, it was Jesse’s idea, so you can talk to her about it. The secret is–
        Me: MIKE!!
Mike:–that Jesse is getting me a birthday pwesent. It’s a SECRET Jesse told me.
