The Long List of Tags

Guys, I really must be famous.  I have no idea if I’m even doing all the tags I’ve been tagged for.  *cries* People, you’re tagging me too much!  Or, it must just be I’m very slow.  Everyone tells me I should be fast with my huge feet and long legs.  Feet only help in swimming…And long legs need more blood and oxygen, so that’s my excuse why I’m tagged so much.  First up (at least, I think she tagged me first…) is Molly with the Liebster Award.  (AND NO, SPELLCHECK, it is NOT lobster.)

Now for the rules:

Tag rules:
Thank the blog that nominated you for the award. *nods*
Answer the questions they gave you.
Give 11 fun facts about yourself.
Nominate 11 other bloggers for the award, and give them 11 questions to answer.

From Molly

  1. Do you like snakes? Would you hold one?

Um, I get asked this all the time.  I’m not scared of snakes as long as they’re over there, and I’m over here.  *blinks* I’ve held snakes…And as long as they don’t try to squeeze my arm off, I’ll take the dare.  Of course, I’m not going to hold a snake unless you dare me.

2. What genre of music do you like?

I’m a bad person, and I love country.  Well, of course I don’t like the songs about the girl leaving the guy with the kid, but some of it’s pretty good.  *nods* I also like hymns, bluegrass, and folk songs.  Plus, war songs from the nineteenth century are amazing.  (Always about Willie boy, those Minnie balls, and goober peas.)

3. What’s your favorite flavor of ice cream? (or don’t you like ice cream?)

Um, any faithful follower knows it’s coffee ice-cream, but honestly, I hardly ever eat ice-cream.

4. How long have you been blogging?

*checks date* A YEAR TODAY!  Happy birthday to this blog!  Happy birthday to this blog!  Happy birthday dear Crazy A….Happy birthday to you!

(Check out my second blog post here. Oh, the atrocious spelling/grammar mistakes.  Apparently Libby is finally wearing off on me.)

5. Summer or winter?

Winter.  Oh, how I love winter!  (With the exception of frost bite.)

fullsizeoutput_167.jpeg

6. Inside or outside?

Outside!  As long as I don’t need wifi…

7. Do you prefer to read or write?

Read.  Why would a writer want to write?  A true writer only wants to read, LOL!

8. What’s the longest (or closest to longest, if you can’t remember) book you’ve ever read?

Ooh, dear.  Do school books count?  NO?  Okay, all I can think about is “The Wide Wide World.”  It’s like, 590 something pages.  I can read that in a day or two, if I’m sick and it’s cold.

9. Historical fiction or fantasy?

Why would you even ask this question?  It’s totally Historical Fiction.  You have to think too much for fantasy.  I mean, as long as you’re immersed in the culture of the 1700, 1800, or 1900 century, Historical Fiction is wonderfully easy to read.

10. Watermelon or canteloupe?

Cantaloupe.  Did you know that the first strand of penicillin, the wonder drug, was found on a moldy cantaloupe in the middle of an English market?  And did you know that in order to mass produce penicillin for WWII, the English lined their coats with penicillin, so Germany and the enemy wouldn’t find it.  (Oh, and it’s spelled cantaloupe. 🙂 )

Plus, watermelon is finicky.  The harder and crunchier the melon, the better.  Cantaloupe is ALWAYS delish.  Always.

11. Cloudy or sunny?

SUNNY!  ☀️ I get depressed without my sunshine.  (Plus, how else are you supposed to get your vitamin D???)

Yay!  Thanks so much, Molly!  Now for Amanda’s questions.  Go check out Amanda’s blog, and listen to me answer her questions.

1.  What is your favorite breakfast food?

Haha, no breakfast?  But, probably fruit.
2. Can you juggle?

Um, no.  I try, but I’m not an acrobat or gymnast. And I’m definitely not a clown.

3. If you could be a character in one of your favorite books, who would it be?

What?  I don’t want to be a character in my favorite books!  I’d rather just be in there.  Okay, either Andy or Abby Baker.  Probably Andy, because he’s like, never kidnapped, and what fun is it if everyone has to save you?  But Abby does some pretty cool stuff…Like in Peril on Providence Island, and Iceland Intrigue, and of course, Hunting on the Highlands.  I would give anything to be Abby in Hunting on the Highlands.  She’s like, amazing, and she meets the best people.

4. What do you think makes a good writer?

*scratches head* I think God makes a good writer.  Some people say that you’re not born a writer, but I tend to agree and disagree.  Writers are often born with stories to write, but you also need to have the determination to take rejection, and plow through the editing.  *grimaces* Of course, I have no idea what makes a good writer.

5. How many times do you laugh a day?

Hahahahahahhahahahhahaha.  I laugh pretty often, but not too much.  Actually, I only ever laugh when Rose laughs.  *ponders* I usually make other people laugh, and sometimes join in their laughter.  Or, you’ll hear random bursts of laughter from my corner as I read a book.

6. Have you ever danced in the rain?

Hasn’t everyone?  No?

7. What is one thing about Jesus that blows you away every time?

His love, compassion, and determination.  He not only suffered the crowds of people, and the tiredness of his human body, He actually loved those people and had compassion on them.  Once, I asked someone if they pitied something.  The man looked me in the eye and said,

No, because pity would leave them where they are.  Pity is feeling sorry for something, but leaving it as it is.  Compassion is feeling sorry for something, and helping it.

Jesus didn’t just love us, He had compassion for us, and He suffered for us.  Praise the Lord, He also made a way for us to reach heaven.

8. Would you rather sing or speak in front of a large crowd of people?

Oh, sing, totally.  I’ve only ever had to sing in front of a crowd, so I suppose until I try speaking, I’ll stick with singing.

9. ‘Why is a raven like a writing desk?’

Because neither is made of cheese.  (Thanks for helping, Google. 😉 )

10. Favorite season of the year?

I have finally decided it is winter, though I love all seasons (even spring *achoo!*)

11. Are you excited for what God has next in your life?!?

Um, sure!  I’ll take each day one at a time, though.  🙂

And then, Liberty tagged me.  I feel as though I’ll have no one to tag, since everyone has been tagged!  Thanks, Liberty!

1. What’s your favorite movie?

Oh, I’m SO NOT A MOVIE PERSON!  Let’s just go with Gettysburg at the moment.

2. What is the name of your favorite  character (one you wrote or one you’ve read)

Phil Baker?  *grins* Or Edmund Pevensie…And out of my own writing, Lyd Christian, or Jonathan and Benji Adams. (What can I say, I like the boys.)

3. If you could bring one character to life(from something you’ve written of you’ve read) which one would you?

Phil Baker or Edmund Pevensie.  If they were only alive…

4. Have you read C.S Lewis’s Narnia series? What did you think?

Haha, I love it.  It’s one of my favorite book series EVER!  My mom first read it to us when I was seven, and I’ve LOVED it ever since.  (Thanks, Mom, for taking time to read to us kids.)

5. Do you listen to music a lot?

Almost nonstop.  I’m just not listening to it now.  🙂

6. How many siblings do you have?

Six siblings…Four sisters, two brothers.  I really wish I had more.

7. What do you think of penguins?

DEATH TO ALL PENGUINS!  (Quote taken from Liberty.  😉 ) Actually, one of the saddest movies I’ve ever watched is March of the Penguins.  I like, ALWAYS cry.  I hate that movie.  😢

8. What’s your favorite animal?

A cow.  MOO!  (Eat more beef!  Forget those filthy chickens.)

IMG_6058

9. Have you ever published a book?

I wish…But I’m working on it.

10. What was the last word you said?

Oh, it was, “Pull your arm out,” to my younger sister.  It really is NOT how it sounds.  😂

11. Do you have any pets? If so how many?

My family has 5 pets, but I have one.  His name is Snowball.  😍

IMG_2813.JPG
My rabbit, Snowball.  ❤

And just the other day, Julia sent me an email informing me that she actually tagged me as well.  Thanks, Julia.

  1. What are some of the worst injuries you have gotten?

Um…Either a sprain, frost bite, or hitting my chin on my brother’s shoulder, causing bite problems, and braces.  🙂

2. What do you think about bloooooooood?

I don’t know what bloooooooood is.  Oh, do you mean blood?  I suppose it’s a necessary part of life, considering it gives life to our bodies.  I’m rather used to it, and I’m not scared of it.  You should have seen all the blood on Sunday when my little sister bit through her tongue.  Let me tell you, face injuries bleed A LOT!

3. What characteristic in general do you completely despise?

I don’t know.  I suppose cockiness, and narcissism…I don’t like people who whine and complain.  I mean, suck it up and man up, right?  Are those characteristics, or are characteristics like, facial features?

4. Tell one of your deepest, darkest, secretz!

I actually don’t have any secretz.  But, I can say that I don’t like it when people purposely misspell words.

5. What’s the funniest quote you’ve heard?

Please, no more quotes–A girl named Amie

6. What is the one word you say all the time?

Umm…And totally.

7. What is your greatest dream in life?

To be a farm girl, or an actress.  Somehow, they don’t seem to go hand in hand, so I’ll go with the first one, but the second one is only to earn money.  I mean, obviously I would need money to be a farm girl.

8. If you could choose a specific time in your life where you could stay the rest of your days, when would that be and why?

Um, when I was nine?  I wouldn’t have to think about the rest of my life.  Of course, I wasn’t content with life then, but I think that if I had the same training I’ve had since then, I would be happy.  So maybe now?  And it’s because I’m happy with my life.  “The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places” (Psalm 16:6)

9. What would you rather learn to do, throw knives, knit, or paint?  (just sayin, I would totally learn to throw knives, it’s just awesome.)

I agree with you, girl.  Throwing knives are just awesome.  Somehow, I know how to do all of these.  Knitting is an EXTREME bore, and painting is marvelous.  I’m terrible at using my brother’s throwing knives.  If I had some more hay bales, of course I’d pick that hobby up.  So, throwing knives, because I could totally use some more practice.  I’d try throwing a knife at my enemy, and it would end up in this foot.

“Sorry, dude, I really did mean for that to be a little less painful.”

IMG_3358

10. If we lived in a world where your name’s meaning was who you were and defined your strengths, weaknesses, likes, dislikes, and personality – what would you want your name to be?

I would want to be named Michal Hope, because that means Brook of Hope.  I would want to be a brook of hope for the hopeless.

11. If you could go back in time and give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be?

Dear younger me,

Time flies so fast, and it’s only going to fly faster.  Enjoy life as it is, and take one day at a time.  You’re perfect just how you are, you don’t need popular friends, crowds, or anyone to tell you that.  Spend more time on counting your blessings than dreaming of your future, and do the work you’re given with a cheerful heart.  As the Bible says, “A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.” (Proverbs 17:22)

Appearances (for all you stalkers……)

Name: Amie

Nicknames: Amie.

Birthday: A day that is unknown to the world…

Hair Color and Length:  Everyone says my hair is dark auburn, but to me it appears simply brown.  It goes about to my tee-shirt sleeves, so it’s pretty short.

IMG_7875.jpeg
My hair color.  LOL, you know you’re a country person when you use kale ties to put your hair up.

Eye color: A hazel brown.  People tell me they have green in them.  Again, I cannot see it.

Braces/Piercing/Tattoos: I have braces, and have had them for a year.  (Check out my braces post here) and I have my ears pierced.

Righty or Lefty: I was born a righty, but I read the story of Ehud in Judges chapter 3, and I decided I would be ambidextrous.  I use my left hand for most things now (it also helps to play three stringed instruments), and I can write fairly well with it.  I’m able to use both hands in almost everything, and both feet in kickball, depending on what the outfield looks like.  😉

Ethnicity: Um…I’m a Southern gal living for her King. 🙂 (Does that count?)

First………

Novel written: Oh, how should I know?  Well, the first one I started that was to be a novel was either Sarah Jane or With Lee in the Confederacy.  For laughs, here is what nine ten-year-old me wrote.

Mary was riding as fast as she could go on her horse, Princess. Mary has carrot orange hair, beautiful green eyes and a docile temper. Mary rode till she came to an old cabin also known as the slave quarters.

She tied her horse to a log and ran in and threw herself on the bed.

Inside was crude wood furniture and an old slave woman

“Dar chile! What dar de matta? Is Massa Lee ill?”

“Oh, no! It’s Custis! I wish he would stay! Oh, I want to stay here forever! Marcy should be here soon. She said…….” as there was a knock on the door.

“Come in dar, young misus,” said The old lady, better known as Aunt Dinah

“Oh, my dearest friend! What ever the matter? Your eyes are ever so red and puffy! Is it Arnold? Did he tell you he didn’t like you? Or did his parents get in the way? I always thought that the Pringles would get in the way!” said Marcy, in almost one breath.

“Oh, Marcy! It is none of that, my dear friend! It’s Custis……”

Then Marcy broke in.  “Is he engaged? to, oh, what’s her name? That Alice James? Isn’t she cute? Oh no! it’s not Jane is it? Of course not! Custis has better taste then Jane!”

“He’s going to college! In the North!” At that moment Mary started to cry uncontrollably. Marcy held her in her arms and said “You poor girl! And in the North? that’s crazy! Where in the world did he get that idea? I mean, did your father said he had to go?”

“Daddy said he should, and Custis always wanted to go to the North.” Said Mary with a sigh.

Haha!  *wipes tears of laughter from corner of eyes* I think I was reading just a bit too much Elsie Dinsmore?  Anyone agree?  Plus, I had just listened to “With Lee in Virginia, and spent all my time on Wikipedia instead of doing my school work.  I’m afraid my mom was rather upset with me at the time.

Novel completed: Oh dear, no! Crystal Clear was the first one I totally completed.  *hides face in hands*

Award For Writing: I won a contest called, “Beauty Out of the Ashes” on a blog, and I was SO happy.  That’s the only award I’ve gotten for writing.  OOOOH, no!  I did win an award with Snow Nightmare.

Publication: I haven’t been published yet, sadly.

Conference: First conference?  That would have to be the very first Teach Them Diligently in Greenville, SC.  It was an AMAZING experience.  You know, the only thing I actually remember from it is meeting a girl who was named Anna, and she pronounced it like Frozen, and that we ate at Cracker Barrel almost every night, and the hotel was fun.  Plus, on Saturday morning, we were allowed to watch Tom and Jerry.  🤭

Query/Pitch: *Tries to look smart* *googles it* Oh, I haven’t gotten there yet.

Favorite……….

Novel (that you wrote): None of them.  I hate all my writing at the moment.

Genre: Action and Adventure/Mystery

Author: Too many.  (Can you tell I’m getting tired of answering questions?)

Writing Music: Um, the Bontrager Family Singers, or Southern Raised.

Time to write: Late at night…As long as I’m not sick.

Writing snack/drink: Coffee or tea, and I don’t eat while I write.  It gets the keyboard dirty, and who likes dirty keyboards?

Movie: Whahahahaaaa!  I AM NOT A MOVIE PERSON, people.  Why is this culture immersed in movies?

Writing memory: The feeling of finishing NaNoWriMo at midnight…Actually, it was passed midnight.  But the feeling of total victory is hard to explain.  I knew that writing would FOREVER be in my future after I typed the last word.  Over five edits later, and one acceptance from a self-publisher, I am still wondering if writing is in my future, LOL!

Childhood book: “The Complete Book of Farmyard Tales.”  I loved being read to about the Boot family.  Plus, we would listen to the CD of someone reading it every night.  When I was little I could practically recite that book to you.

Currently……

Reading: “The Unexpected Offer”

Writing: Adams 2

Listening To: Um?  My brother cough?

Watching: The words appear on WordPress.

Learning: Life isn’t what it seems to be, but you can still be joyful because Jesus paid it all!

Future!

Want to be published: ASAP.

Indie or traditional: Haha, all you Indie publishers…WHERE DO YOU GET THE MONEY? I’m so going traditional.

Wildest Goal: Breed arabian horses.  Haha, yep.  Never happening, me.  Or, to ride from Mexico to Canada over the Rockies on horseback.  That is TOTALLY happening, just wait and see.

Again, anyone and everyone is nominated!  Because I’m going to nominate…

The Trevor siblings will never be the same as they take up residence at Myst Court and leave their comfortable abode. Their newly inherited home is grand but gloomy, neglected, and rumoured to be haunted. Before they leave Summer Villa, their uncle warns them that it will not be against the haunted chambers of the house that they need to be wary, but rather, that which is hidden deep within the haunted chambers of their own hearts. Expose the secret chambers of your heart where Pride, Fear, or Worldliness might be residing and break free of their tenacious hold!

Oh, guys.  I LOVE THIS BOOK!  It’s SO much better than the audio drama Lamplighter has come out with.  The book is like, AMAZING!  And, you can enter here:

And I love Les Miserables! Actually, I have never read it, but I watched the movie years ago and listened to the Focus on the Family audio drama, which I absolutely adore.

And Amie, how am I supposed to say my favorite book? Let me just pick one… To Appomattox: Nine April Days, or Unbroken or that Donner party book that I can’t remember the name of, or maybe The Boy Colonel… I better stop before this list gets longer.
